2006 ACURA RSX

WHAT ACURA HAS TO SAY ABOUT THIS CAR: (Source: Acura)

With its nimble, racecar handling and myriad of comforts, the 2006 RSX is the quintessence of performance and luxury. Equally at home on a merciless mountain road as a big-city interstate, the RSX and RSX Type-S dish up powerful, unparalleled thrills. Strategically savvy interior appointments easily accommodate its highly demanding sports coupe owner, while impressing even the most discriminating luxury coupe driver.

The RSX and RSX Type-S earned their sports coupe design and distinct exhaust notes on the track. Translate that heritage to everyday driving and you have the RSX and RSX Type-S. In its latest incarnation, the Type-S experiences the thrill of 201-horsepower and includes a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission whose throws are light, short and uncommonly precise. The 155-horsepower RSX and the Type-S boast a powerful 2.0-liter engine that draws on a technologically advanced i-VTEC® system. Such exhilaration extends to the cabin as well, with reduced wind, road and engine noise-ensuring its unmistakable exhaust note and intake hum come in loud and clear.
RSX A-SPEC PACKAGE

Acura A-SPEC is a complete dealer installed accessory package that addresses the demands of performance enthusiasts by providing enhanced handling, aggressive looks, quality and durability. The Acura RSX A-SPEC kit includes a high wing spoiler, an aero kit, interior enhancements and a Handling Package. The A-SPEC Handling Package includes 17-inch alloy wheels, which are offset to match the vehicle's suspension design, ensuring long service life to vehicle wheel bearings and suspension joints. In addition, the A-SPEC sports suspension components lower the vehicle approximately one inch. The package also comes equipped with an aero kit and wing spoilers, which are manufactured using a molding process that matches other factory molded components.

Innovation propels the RSX in a few ways, starting with its engine. Its "intelligent" Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC®) is even more impressive than its first incarnation, the powerful VTEC® engine. In the RSX, i-VTEC helps the responsive 2.0-liter, DOHC engine put out 155-horsepower, while in the RSX Type-S, the engine is pushed to a robust 201-horsepower. Remarkably powerful? Yes. And uncommonly fuel efficient, affording both engines with Low-Emission-Vehicle (LEV-2) ratings and an 110,000-mile service sticker.

To make every press of the pedal count, the aluminum-alloy RSX engine is mated to a quick-shifting 5-speed manual transmission. The optional 5-speed Sequential SportShift automatic transmission lets you control shifting when you feel like it, or if you prefer, it will do it for you.

The 201-horsepower RSX Type-S is exclusively equipped with a light and compact 6-speed manual transmission that's ideally suited to the engine. Its exceptionally short and precise throws mimic the quick shift action of a racecar, and tighter gear ratios gives you more pull in each gear. Its short clutch-pedal stroke makes shifting seem effortless.

You'll demand more from the RSX for one simple reason: it can take what you dish out. Proof exists in its suspension system. In the front, an independent Control-Link MacPherson strut suspension provides exceptionally precise handling and outstanding cornering grip. And in the rear, a compact double-wishbone suspension helps deliver quick, confident handling and a smooth, compliant ride. On the RSX Type-S, the suspension is optimized with firmer springs and dampers in the front and rear, for even greater responsiveness and road feel.

There are more ways to measure performance than at mid- to high- speeds. You know better than that. Think about parking lots, impromptu u-turns and winding city streets. This is why the variable power-assist rack-and-pinion steering system of the RSX is as sharp in spirited driving as it is at lower speeds.

Stopping power is yet another measure. The RSX is equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes that feature 10.3-inch ventilated front rotors and 10.2-inch units at the rear. The Type-S enjoys an enhanced brake feel and stopping power with 11.8-inch front rotors, which means you can demand a complete halt without overtaxing the brake system. ABS is standard on both models.

Each RSX is equipped with Michelin All-Season, high-performance tires. The RSX features 205/55R16 tires on 16-inch, five-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels. In 2006, the Type-S is upgraded to 215/45R17 tires for a more aggressive stance and firm footing.

OUR TAKE ON THE ACURA TSX: The Acura RSX is the one vehicle from Honda Motors that was bred for the sport compact tuning community. The RSX picks up where the Integra left off, with sport tuning in mind and built for the youthful buyer.
